Accelerated Reader is a reading program which uses quality literature and computer tests.  The students are tested using the Star Program to see which level of books are appropriated for their independent reading level.  The students select a book on their level, read it, then take a computer quiz.  The teachers at CES have incorporated several incentive programs to inspire students to read. 

Students are rewarded at the end of each six-weeks with a special activity.

        1st Grade - 25 books
        2nd Grade - 15 points
        3rd Grade - 20 points
        4th Grade - 25 points

Although there are several incentives used with the Accelerated Reader program at CES, our main goal is to expose our students to quality literature and inspire students to enjoy a lifetime of reading.
