Mrs. Kristi Nixon
I am a 1995 graduate of Spartanburg Day School in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I received my B.S. in Accounting from Tennessee Tech in 1999. I was employed from 1999 until 2005 as an accountant. In 2006, I began my teaching career at Cumberland County High School. In May of 2007, I moved with my husband, Pat and our two kids, Patrick and Grace, to Carthage. In my spare time, I enjoy spending the day at our pool with my family and our three dogs.

ESL means English for Speakers of other Languages. In other words, I teach English to students who learned to speak a different language when they were little, like Spanish or Chinese. My students are as smart as natural English speakers, but you can imagine how hard it would be to learn your subjects when you can only understand, read, and write a little English. It can take years for ESL students to catch up in the classroom, even though most of them can talk in English in a year or two. These cheerful students work hard to keep up in school, and really appreciate the help of teachers and classmates.
