Mrs. Kaye Ann Shores
Apple 4 the Teacher 2004

Current school, grade and subject:

I have taught in the Smith County School System for 26 years.  This is my 14th year to teach 3rd grade at Carthage Elementary School.

Hometown, family in area:

I live in the Carthage area on a farm with my husband, Kirk, and our two children, Kristen and Justin.  Kirk teaches P.E. at three of our elementary schools.  Kristen is a Senior at Western Kentucky University, and Justin is a Freshman at Smith County High School.  My parents and Kirk's parent live close to us.  Family is very important to us.

Educational History:

I graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1978 with my Bachelor of Science in Education and then my Masters of Arts - Early Childhood in 1982.

Favorite classroom activity:

I love to teach reading through good literature to open up new horizons for the children's future.

Most memorable teaching moment or event:

I can honestly say that each day of teaching adds another memory and hopefully the greatest memory has not occurred.

Greatest reward of teaching:

To be able to shape the lives of former student's siblings.  It is so neat to have in class former students children.  What a blessing!!!
