Mrs. Karen Hackett I began my teaching career at Carthage Elementary after graduating from MTSU in 1997. I love teaching second grade. My belief is that all children are learners and will want to learn when they enjoy school. I enjoy reading, snow skiing, and traveling. Also, I love doing things for the Jordan Hackett Foundation. My husband, Stephen, and I live just outside of Carthage. We are members of North Carthage Baptist Church. |

Ms. Jyl Shanks-Smith I welcome your child to second grade. This is my first year at Carthage Elementary. I am a 1990 graduate of Smith County High School. In 1995, I graduated with a degree in secondary education specializing in History/Geography. I taught 7th, 9th, and 11th grades History/Geography at Smith County High School from 1995-1999. I have been a stay at home mom for the last six years. My son attends Carthage Elementary, and he will be in the second grade in Mrs. Hackett's room. His name is Jason-Robert. During my time at home, I worked in a Mothers Day Out program, and I also received my certification in elementary education. I am so excited to be your child's teacher. I am expecting a great year full of lots of learning and excitement. |
