Laurie Harpe Glover

Hello, my name is Laurie Harpe Glover.  I knew all along growing up that I wanted to be a teacher.  I love to watch a child's face light up when they learn something new for the first time.  Not only do I want to prepare your child for the next  grade level, I want them to leave my classroom with a motivation to enjoy learning as well as an increased self-esteem about themselves.

I have been teaching in Smith County since 1993.  My background in education is the following:  Smith County High (1989), MTSU (1993), and TTU (Masters, 1995).  I am married with three boys, Trevor, Peyton, and Connor.  During the summer, we enjoy swimming, taking vacations, camping, and I try to catch up on my reading.  During the fall, we enjoy cheering on our favorite football team - Tennessee Titans.

Marty Owens

My name is Marty Owens.  I have had the honor of working with hundreds of children in Smith Co. over the last 30 years. This year I hope your child will take away a love for reading from my classroom that will last a lifetime. I will also work to keep them all become well-rounded and productive citizens of whatever community they call home.

My family consists of my husband, to songs Sean Owens, CPA and J. B. Owens, credit analyst and daughter-in-law, Anita Owens a teacher at Union Heights.

You know your child better than anyone, so please keep communications open throughout the year & I'm sure we will be a productive team.

Kaye Shores

Hello, my name is Kaye Shores.  I started my teaching career 1979.  I graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, l983 with my Masters of Arts-Early Childhood, 1992 Career Ladder III, 1995 I was awarded a 21st Century classroom, and in l999, I was awarded Teacher of the Year for Smith County.

From the time I was a junior in high school I dreamed of 2 goals for my life: to become a teacher and to have a Christian family.  I have been fortunate to obtain these goals.   In 1977, I married Kirk and we have two wonderful children, Kirsten and Justin. Kristen is a graduate student at Western Kentucky University majoring in communication disorders, and Justin is an  sophomore at Smith County High School.

My desire for your child this year is to develop a love and understanding of good children's literature and a passion for reading.  These are my goals that I will work hard all year long to instill in your child.  Please continue to provide your child with opportunities and access to good literature.  Reading is a habit that will last a lifetime.

Along with verbs, multiplication, and spelling I want to share with your child the joy of living.  I want our class to be kind to one another, to help those who need it, to be respectful of themselves and others, to be trustworthy, to act responsible, to be compassionate, and encourage them to be a good citizen for our country.
